The event will take place on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, at the Bulova Conference Center in Elmhurst, Queens, New York.

This is a half-day workshop that you don’t want to miss! It culminates the USDOT SBTRC summer webinar series co-hosted with the United States Small Business Administration (SBA), offering a unique opportunity to engage directly with project stakeholders and resource providers.
 
Transportation industryLearn about ongoing and upcoming Investing in America projects in the New York or Northeast region. Engage in presentations from SBA and USDOT SBTRC on available resources and tools. Participate in a clinic session for feedback on Capability Statements. Maximize your networking opportunities with prime contractors and agencies, including Skanska and MTA. Consider marketing to government opportunities and qualifications. Connect with key resource agencies to navigate procurement and government processes.
 
Benefits for attendees include understanding the Investing in America initiative and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) opportunities. You can also learn how to prepare for and identify infrastructure projects, and discover subcontracting opportunities in the Northeast region. On workshop day, you can interact with prime contractors and agencies.
 
The workshop is organized with the major participation of the Small Business Transportation Resource Center (SBTRC) at LaGuardia Community College, whose goal is to increase the number of small businesses that are prepared to compete for, and enter into, transportation-related prime and sub-contracts, at the local, state, and federal levels.

The SBTRC Northeast Region works closely with the state and local transportation agencies and technical assistance agencies in the region to assist firms that are interested in doing business with those agencies and the USDOT.
 
SBTRC provides procurement counseling and technical assistance to small businesses throughout the Northeast Region. This includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont. Services include helping new or emerging businesses to obtain transportation-related contracts, and training and advising on marketing to the Department of Transportation, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification, and bonding assistance. The SBTRC is funded by the USDOT’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU).
 
The OSDBU’s mission is to ensure that small business policies and goals of the United States Secretary of Transportation are implemented in a fair, efficient, and effective manner. The OSDBU website includes links with information on small business assistance, small business loans for women and veterans, and more small business resources.
